"Introductory section translated from Finnish into English by permission of the Philatelic Federation of Finland, Helsinki (Suomen Filatelistiliitto). Originally published in 1988, as No. 9 in a series, by the Philatelic Federation of Finland, titled as Suomen postitoimipaikat 1638-1985."--t.p. Translation made possible through a grant from the Scandinavian Philatelic Foundation. Introductory section was based on a research paper by Kalle Vaarmas, and it stresses the development of postal markings in Finland. This publication does not include the tables listing Finland's post offices alphabetically along with such information as county of location and dates of establishment and closing that are found in the original work in Finnish.
